Our shared faith

We acknowledge God's revelation in Christ and confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour. We work together to:

  • deepen our unity with Christ and with one another
  • witness to Him in our community
  • serve our community and work for peace and justice

The following words of St. Paul in his letter to the Ephesians describe the unity we have in Christ which we strive to realise in our own community:

We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future. There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and there is only one God and Father who is over us all and in us all and living through us all. (Ephesians 4.4-5, NLT)

We will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. (Ephesians 4.15-16, NLT)

Please join us in prayer:

Loving Father God, we praise you for sending your Son Jesus into the world. We give you thanks that his death on the cross offers us forgiveness of our sins and the opportunity of a fresh start, and his rising again gives us hope of life eternal. Unite us all to continue the work of Jesus in the world today, each one of us seeking to be a useful part of his body. We pray that all differences between Christians worldwide will be resolved in love and that we will work together for the advancement of your kingdom. Send your Holy Spirt among us, Lord, to unite, guide and strengthen.

We pray for all the people of South East Edinburgh, of all faiths and none, that you would watch over them and that they would know your loving presence. In Jesus' name. Amen.
