This page notes things that SEECAT church members are doing, and especially where additional cooperation and help is invited.

For Bethany we provide teams for the rota for the Care Van, and for the catering at the Night Shelter, and collect warm clothing, new underclothes and blankets for the teams to take with them.
We collect items for Fresh Start’s “starter packs” to help people moving into accommodation for the first time, and our volunteers help to pack at the Fresh Start headquarters.
Both organisations have many opportunities for individuals to help in their various programmes, and these can be accessed from their websites.
Edinburgh Direct Aid (EDA)
EDA is an all volunteer Edinburgh based charity which has been delivering aid for over 20 years. Initially it was active during the Bosnian conflict, delivering aid to Sarajevo, but has since spread its wings to cover many areas of the world where there is need. Currently the focus is on supporting a camp for Syrian refugees in Arsal just inside the Lebanese border.

Their warehouse is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10-00 am until 3-00 pm to receive clothing and other supplies. George McDermid (tel. 666 2236) is also willing to collect and deliver as well as offering advice.
Volunteers are also needed in the warehouse to pack clothing into boxes for transportation to Lebanon.

Fair Trade Stalls—St Catherine’s, St John Vianney and St Gregory churches regularly have a fair trade stall after Sunday services. We’d welcome exploring if we can link fair trade efforts throughout the SEECAT churches during Fair Trade Fortnight and beyond it.
